DR. MYRON HENRICKSON: You can have a crown done in one hour, and not a day, but one hour. And no temporaries, nothing to fall off on the weekend, no waiting two weeks, done in one hour, completely done and bonded, which is much better than a cemented lab crown.
Bonded crowns don’t tend to ever get decay under them. I think it’s like putting the tooth back together. You're taking that tooth and you're literally putting it back together where it’s as good as the virgin tooth.
Say you come in; you've got a broken tooth. We're able to take a picture of that tooth with a computer, a three-dimensional picture. And we can copy what’s good on that tooth. In other words, we aren’t going to change a tooth dramatically.
And then, what we will do is prepare the tooth. And we'll take another three-dimensional picture with a computer. And we then design the crown and, again, keeping those parts of the tooth that were still okay as far as the shape is concerned. That way, when you get the new crown, it doesn't feel like a foreign body. It feels like the same tooth.
Once we complete that, the milling process, which we do it on a computer. We send it to a mill. We mill it out of industrial porcelain, which is very strong. We bond it in. Consequently, you'll never get decay under it because it’s bonded. And generally, the patients go home and they have no discomfort afterwards. They will tell me the next day, you know, it just feels like the same tooth.
